All travellers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia.

Immigration and Visa Enquiries

For general information on visa requirements and how to apply for a visa, please use our online enquiry form or telephone the Australian Visa Information Service. Please note that the telephone call centre operates on Canadian time. Current hours of operation are 1pm to 8pm Brasilia time

Please note this number is for pre-lodgement enquiries only. The staff are unable to provide information regarding an application that has been lodged in Brasilia

Accepted Payment Methods

All charges are payable in Brazilian Real only. Payments must be made in cash (for payments in person only) or via bank or company cheque made payable to ‘Australian Embassy’ or ‘Embaixada da Austrália’ and should have a contact telephone number on the reverse.

We do not accept payment by personal cheque, credit card, debit card, bank transfer or bank deposit.

Charges may also be paid at an office of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Australia. If charges are paid in Australia, the original pink receipt must accompany the application.

Application Processing Times

The average processing time for a Tourist or Student visa application is 10 -15 working days. For other visa classes, please see the following sites: www.immi.gov.au or www.brazil.embassy.gov.au. Average processing times given are for applications that include all the required information and documents at time of lodgement.

Please note that incomplete applications may take longer to process. Processing times mentioned commence at the time of receipt of the application by DIAC Brasília.  Please ensure you allow additional time for postage is you have submitted your application via post.
